K-State to hire Bruce Weber as coach

The will announce as the new head men’s basketball coach at a 3:00pm press conference today. On March 9th, Weber was fired from Illinois after finishing the season 17-15 with the Fighting Illini. Weber has a career coaching record of 313-155, including eight trips to the NCAA Tournament and an appearance in the national championship game in 2005.

will hire Weber to replace Frank Martin, who left the Wildcats to coach at South Carolina earlier this week. Weber has been linked to job openings at SMU and Southern Illinois, but there had been very little connecting him to the position at .
