Pullen has a chance to pass Henson scoring list

Earlier this week, 12,528 fans saw the Kansas State Wildcats (8-1) pick up their eighth win on the season after defeating Alcorn State 89-55. Jacob Pullen scored 24 points, while adding five rebounds. Jamar Samuels came off the bench , finishing with 16 points and 14 rebounds to lead the ‘Cats.

To cap off the week, the Wildcats will have a chance to pick up their ninth win, and second on the road, against the Loyola-Chicago Ramblers (8-2). This is the first time senior guard Jacob Pullen has returned home to play basketball since departing for Kansas State after his senior year in high school. Pullen will most likely have hundreds of family and friends wearing purple to support him come Saturday.

His family and friends will also get a chance to watch Pullen close in on an major achievement. Pullen currently ranks sixth on Kansas State’s all-time scoring list. He trails Mike Evans, the all-time leading scorer, by 465 points, but will have a chance to inch closer and gain position to possibly becoming the program’s top scorer.

Pullen’s 1,650 career points is just 5 points behind Kansas State great Steve Henson. If Pullen scores 6 points, he will be able to move to fifth on the scoring list in front of his home crowd in Illinois. The AP All-American currently averages 16 points, four assist, 3.1 rebounds, and 2.1 assist.

Pullen currently already owns a page in the Kansas State history books. Pullen is the all-time leader in three-point attempts, and makes from deep along with being the only team captain three consecutive years.

The 6-foot senior from Maywood, IL has a chance to really make his mark when the season is done. Pullen will make a run at all-time scoring leader Mike Evans, and is also second in free-throws, free-throw attempts, third in assist, and consecutive starts.
