A scholarship made available by senior-to-be Dominique Sutton’s departure last week has already been filled. Nino Williams of Leavenworth, KS will join the K-State basketball program for the 2010-11 season, according to The Topeka Capital-Journal. The 4-star recruit chose the Wildcats over the USC Trojans last October and will enroll in summer school at K-State.

Williams is a 6-foot-5 wingman has risen up recruiting boards over the past year because of improvements to his all-around game. He is a good slasher that can finish strong around the rim, has nice handle for his size and the ability to shoot lights-out in mid-range. Williams is a very aggressive offensive player, but can also get it done on the defensive end, which is an area on the team that will need to be addressed with Sutton gone.

Williams still needs clearance from the NCAA before he will be allowed to play for the Wildcats, but according to Derek Zeck, Williams’ guardian and AAU coach, indications are that will not be a problem. ”K-State’s people have looked at his transcript, Leavenworth’s people have looked at it, and everyone feels confident,” said Zeck.

With the transfer of Dominique Sutton, the addition of Nino Williams will be a great for K-State. The Wildcats needed another wingman to fill Sutton’s shoes and with Williams they have just that.
