The 2011 recruiting class is starting to shape up nicely for the Kansas State basketball team. With seniors Jacob Pullen and Curtis Kelly graduating after the season is over, the Wildcats will need big-time recruits to fill their shoes.

Frank Martin has addressed the frontcourt nicely with the 2011 class. He has pulled in highly-touted recruit Thomas Gipson, and lengthy center Adrian Diaz.

He is also acquiring Omari Lawrence, the transfer from St. Johns, and Angel Rodriguez will possibly be the next recruit to commit to K-State.

However, Coach Martin is looking to other future prospects for continued program success.

Perry Ellis, a 2012 recruit, confirmed that he will be taking a visit to Kansas State when the football team takes on Central Florida on September 25th.

Ellis, a 6-foot-8 high school junior, has seen a lot of Kansas State this summer. Head coach Frank Martin has Ellis’ attention and introduced him to his brand of Kansas State basketball. This summer, just about whenever Ellis played, Martin was there. If Martin couldn’t make it, assistant coach Dalonte Hill or Brad Underwood would be at the game.

However, the Kansas Jayhawks and Oklahoma Sooners both took advantage of their chance to impress Ellis. According to many sources, and confirmation from his mother, both visits went better than planned.

Coach Martin’s quest to land one of the top recruits in the 2012 class is going rather smoothly, and Kansas State continues to make the right moves to impress the phenom from Wichita (Kan.) Heights. His mother believes Kansas and Kansas State will always rest among his list, and K-State has as good of a chance as any other school recruiting Ellis.

Nonetheless, acquiring Ellis will be no piece of cake for Martin, Hill and Underwood. It’ll take more than a win against UCF. If acquired, Kansas State will have one of the highest rated basketball recruits in school history. Not to mention, the highest rated player since Michael Beasley joined the Wildcats in Manhattan.
