Bill Snyder will hire Keith Burns as the new secondary coach for the football program. Burns will replace Vic Koenning, who left last month to be the defensive coordinator at Illinois.

Burns will come to K-State after having served at San Jose State for the past 6 seasons, with the past 3 as the defensive coordinator for the Spartans. Prior to his tenure at San Jose State, Burns was the head coach at Tulsa from 2000-02 where his teams were 7-28.

Burns was a Frank Broyles Award finalist in 1998 while serving as defensive coordinator at Arkansas. Burns has also coordinated defenses at USC, Rice and Pacific.

An official announcement on the hiring of Burns should come sometime this week.
