Bell finds success after football

Former Kansas State running back is not remembered for any significant achievements in his college career.  The 5’8,” 160-pound former running back is remembered as nothing more than a name that appeared on the Wildcat roster for three seasons.  His impact on the field was nothing short of forgettable: five rushing attempts for -3 yards, along with one catch for six yards.  When Bell quit the team after his redshirt sophomore year, he was worried about the impact that he had left on those who supported him.

Big 12 Conference Bowl Projections

Filed under: Football — Brandon Starkey @ 8:06 pm

It’s that time of year again. Teams have secured bowl eligibility and now with just a couple of games to go will be figuring out where they will be heading. This season has been a tremendous one in terms of competition. There are three teams still in the mix to win the Big 12, and had TCU stunned Baylor last week there would be four teams playing for a Big 12 title. With K-State and Oklahoma eliminated from the title race, a new champion will be crowned.

K-State defeats Kansas, again

Filed under: Football — Brandon Starkey @ 8:04 pm

For the fifth consecutive year Kansas State defeated the Kansas Jayhawks in impressive fashion. This season, however, the Jayhawks put up much more of a fight. At the end of the day KU was unable to put together enough drives to stay with the Wildcats, and K-State walked away with a 3 touchdown victory 31-10 in front of 43,610 fans in Lawrence KS.

K-State takes on KU in 2013 Showdown

After suffering a 41-31 loss on Senior Day last week, the Kansas State Wildcats look to give their arch-rival Kansas a similar beating on their Senior Day. K-State was outplayed in the trenches on both sides of the ball last week. They were unable to run the ball, or stop the run, with an exception of when the Sooners were in the redzone.

Bowl eligibility on the line against TCU

Filed under: Football — Brandon Starkey @ 10:09 am

Fresh off of an impressive 49-26 victory over Texas Tech, the Kansas State Wildcats will look to continue their hot streak against a struggling TCU team. TCU was picked by many to win the conference, but after dropping to 3-6 those dreams quickly disappeared. Last week the horned frogs picked up a 21-17 victory on the road in Ames. It was not an easy task for TCU as they had to score the deciding score with under 35 seconds to play.

Big 12 Power Rankings: Week 12

Filed under: Football — Brandon Starkey @ 7:04 pm

In recent memory I cannot think of a more up and down Big 12 season. Teams that looked terrible to start the season are now looking terrific. Teams that looked great at the start of the season are now looking terrible. Now as the season is starting to wind down it appears that a few teams are ready to finally step out and declare themselves as the kings of the conference.

Kansas State takes on #25 Texas Tech

Filed under: Football — Brandon Starkey @ 9:59 am

After a disappointing 2-4 start, Kansas State has risen to the task of getting back to .500 on the season. K-State dismantled a struggling Iowa State team last week and now must go on the road against a talented Texas Tech team. This game may be the most crucial game for K-State out of those remaining on the schedule, as K-State is just two wins away from bowl eligibility. The Cats will look to beat Texas Tech for the third time in a row, which would be the first time since 2000 that K-State has accomplished that.

Where the Rubber Meets the Road

Filed under: Football — Grant Nicholson @ 7:52 am

After last Saturday’s impressive performance in Farmageddon against Iowa State, Kansas State finds themselves with 4 wins and 4 losses and currently sit 6th in the Big 12. With four games left, the Wildcats still need two wins to make themselves bowl eligible for the third straight season. The Wildcats remaining schedule does them no favors as their next three games come against #25 Texas Tech, TCU and #10 Oklahoma, before going to Lawrence in a game against their inter-state rivals. While on paper the Wildcats should beat both the Horned Frogs and the Jayhawks, I think that it would be foolish to immediately assume the Wildcats will make themselves bowl eligible.

Cats vs Clones in Farmageddon ’13

Filed under: Football — Brandon Starkey @ 8:18 am

Finally after more than a month of playing football without a victory, Kansas State earned their first conference win of the season. After struggling for two and a half quarters, K-State was able to pull away from West Virginia and improve to 3-4 on the season. Now, the Wildcats will have a chance to creep back to .500 with a victory over a struggling Iowa State team.
