Topic: K-State, Jeremiah Masoli a good fit

Link

Obviously the concern would be Masoli's criminal history, but with Snyder in his ear and with no worries on the academic side, I like the chances of this guy staying out of trouble in Manhattan. We'd go from a team that is hopeful to go bowling to a team that could legitimately compete for the Big 12 North title again.

I know the holier-than-thou camp would hate it, but I trust Bill Snyder and believe in giving people second (third, fourth) chances.

Re: K-State, Jeremiah Masoli a good fit

With his criminal record I'd say pass...but since I'm just a fan and not in administration at ksu or something, I'd be happy with just looking the other way lol

Re: K-State, Jeremiah Masoli a good fit

KSU hired Bob Huggins... his criminal past was littered with DUI's. I am not sure going after Masoli is the same thing, but its not as risky, what is it going to cost us? A scholarship? seriously, it seems that in the world of strict rules Masoli would probably know that there would be no tollerance, why wouldn't we pursue?

give him a chance, he probably knows he can't mess up again and I'm sure coach snyder has told him so. He and the team could come out a long ways ahead. If he steps out of line, I'm sure coach will do what's right.

I think I'll pass.

FWIW, I don't recall Snyder ever bringing in some guys who has a troubled past. If there is, I don't recall.

Marcus Raines? He was all set to sign with us until it blew up in the media that he had been convicted of involuntary manslaughter.

The more I read about it the more I like it. I guess the whole legal situation we blown out of proportion. He was only arrested once, and that was years ago (according to http://sportsillustrated.cnn.com/2010/f … ndex.html, and his own website which is just his name followed by .com haha).

If these facts are indeed facts, I take everything I said back. Let him come! I would love to see him where purple, but it looks like he is going to Ole Miss, but its not official (unlike what ESPN is saying).

Hmm, never heard of him. Of course, I wasn't an hard-core follower back then, as I am now.

Latest blog entry by JMas on his website..

"I like Ole Miss because I want the opportunity to play football at the highest levels of Division I. The SEC is a great conference and I’d love to experience the competition here. Coach Nutt has been encouraging and a straight shooter. If Ole Miss allows me to enroll, I know exactly what is expected of me."

Ugh, looks like it is 100% in the hands of Ole Miss now. I was still hoping ESPN would make an error like the Big 12 is 100% dead post.

Eh, I think we'll be fine without him, even if it's just only one season. I think the future looks bright with Klein and possibly Sams.

I'm not to high on them, granted no matter what those are going to be our 2 main QB's after this season. Masoli would start this year, and we would be elite (at least offensively). We could attract recruits with Masoli lighting up the scoreboards. It would just be an overall win IMO. But total longshot...:(

Masoli can't start this year. If he transferred to K-State, he'd have to sit out a year as well. Either way, it's not a legit option of him coming to Manhattan.

Re: K-State, Jeremiah Masoli a good fit

Nah, he already graduated from Oregon, a year early. He is entering graduate school, which enables him to play immediately (same story as Grant Gregory). But he would have to be approved by the NCAA

True story.

Re: K-State, Jeremiah Masoli a good fit

Well, talking to a friend of mine, who his sources are "very good", apparently the Masoli situation does have some legs. He's gonna do some digging, finding out.

He also mentions the BB to KSU is a done deal, regardless of the scholarship issue. They're just gonna wait for the potentional release, which is probably unlikely.

Re: K-State, Jeremiah Masoli a good fit

I think our chances improve if Masoli makes it out of Oxford this weekend and hasn't said he's going to Ole Miss before Tuesday. Hopefully Snyder can get in his ear again before he gets his heart set on Ole Miss.

Re: K-State, Jeremiah Masoli a good fit

And Gap, you're right. I forgot that he already graduated. He can come in, aka "Gregory" his way to the starting job. It's possible.

Re: K-State, Jeremiah Masoli a good fit

Settle this for me, Chris. How much real interest was there between K-State and (fellow Oregon transfer) Jeremiah Masoli. Obviously, it's done now, he's with Ole Miss. I'm curious, was he here on a visit?
No, he wasn't here.

So what was the interest level there. I know you guys still talk.
There was some interest, but he knew where he wanted to go and he did it.

What the deciding factor for him?
Well, our program got a bad rap with him. I know that for a fact. I tried to tell him what he was being told about K-State wasn't true. I didn't have the time to really tell him, though. He heard some bad things about the program.

So people were telling him things about K-State that were negative and not true?
I guess he had some sources about K-State. They were telling him wild stuff that wasn't even close to true. I mean, you never really know in recruiting. That stuff is vicious. Ole' Miss definitely wanted him. They wanted him bad. They can say they didn't really want him, but they did. That guy is a Heisman-caliber quarterback.

this is gopowercat.com takling to Chris about Jeremiah Masoli.

Interesting. I wonder what Masoli was hearing about us. Never trust those $EC clowns.
